چکیده

P microorganisms can acclimate to a wide range of CO2 concentration, from as low as 0.001% to '10% CO2 (volyvol in the air in equilibrium with their environment). Some can even grow in the presence of 40% CO2 (1). Acclimation to a limiting CO2 level, well below the Km(CO2) of their carboxylating enzyme, Rubisco (ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylaseyoxygenase), is achieved by substantial physiological and structural changes at various cell levels (2–4). The most prominent of these is the induction of a CO2 concentrating mechanism (CCM), which raises the [CO2] in close proximity to Rubisco. The latter is for the most part located in pyrenoids or carboxysomes in eukaryotes and prokaryotes photosynthetic microorganisms, respectively (5). This CCM involves light energydependent inorganic carbon uptake and accumulation of HCO3 2 within the cell. In cyanobacteria, the accumulated HCO3 2

Photosynthetic acclimation to rising atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration.

With rising level of CO2 in the atmosphere plants are expected to be exposed to higher concentration of CO2. Since, CO2 is a substrate limiting photosynthesis particularly in C3 plants in the present atmosphere, the impact of elevated CO2 would depend mainly on how photosynthesis acclimates or adjusts to the long term elevated level of CO2. Photosynthetic acclimation is a change in photosynthet...

Photosynthetic acclimation in rice leaves to free-air CO2 enrichment related to both ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylation limitation and ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate regeneration limitation.

Net photosynthetic rates (Pns) in leaves were compared between rice plants grown in ambient air control and free-air CO2 enrichment (FACE, about 200 micromol mol(-1) above ambient) treatment rings. When measured at the same CO2 concentration, the Pn of FACE leaves decreased significantly, indicating that photosynthetic acclimation to high CO2 occurs. Although stomatal conductance (Gs) in FACE l...

Acclimatory responses of stomatal conductance and photosynthesis to elevated CO2 and temperature in wheat crops grown at varying levels of N supply, in a Mediterranean environment

The short and long-term responses of flag leaf stomatal conductance (gs) and rate of photosynthesis (An) to elevated CO2 (757 μmol mol), 4 oC warmer temperatures and N supply were investigated in spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv. Alcalá) crops grown in two seasons in field conditions under temperature gradient tunnels, in a Mediterranean environment. Plants grown at elevated CO2 had lower ...

Soil and plant water relations determine photosynthetic responses of C3 and C4 grasses in a semi-arid ecosystem under elevated CO2.

To model the effect of increasing atmospheric CO2 on semi-arid grasslands, the gas exchange responses of leaves to seasonal changes in soil water, and how they are modified by CO2, must be understood for C3 and C4 species that grow in the same area. In this study, open-top chambers were used to investigate the photosynthetic and stomatal responses of Pascopyrum smithii (C3) and Bouteloua gracil...

Photosynthetic acclimation of overstory Populus tremuloides and understory Acer saccharum to elevated atmospheric CO2 concentration: interactions with shade and soil nitrogen.

We exposed Populus tremuloides Michx. and Acer saccharum Marsh. to a factorial combination of ambient and elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations ([CO2]) and high-nitrogen (N) and low-N soil treatments in open-top chambers for 3 years. Our objective was to compare photosynthetic acclimation to elevated [CO2] between species of contrasting shade tolerance, and to determine if soil N or shading m...
